Mazda has its diesel-powered Grand-Am racecar, raced by SpeedSource engineering, on the show floor at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. We found it particularly cool-looking, so we snapped some shots of it.
The Paris Motor Show is approaching quickly, and while we’ve gotten a mere trickle of information regarding this year’s show, we suspect the deluge is on the way. For a start, we have this funky concept from Nissan. Called the TeRRA (yeah, we have no clue why the last three letters are capitalized either), it’s a zero-emissions fuel-cell-powered SUV. Utilizing a three-motor electric all-wheel-drive system, it’s meant to deliver a dose of green to greenlaning.
Honda took the wraps off the Fit EV at the LA Auto Show. The car will be available for lease in Oregon and California beginning the summer of 2012, with East Coast availability in 2013.
Mercedes-Benz has revealed its newest research vehicle, this one with emissions-free driving as the main subject of study and innovation. Called F125! (M-B includes the exclamation point), it is an F-Cell (hydrogen) plug-in hybrid with a range of 621 miles.
Mercedes-Benz clearly believes in the long-range viability of hydrogen technology. The company announced plans to drive its F-Cell hydrogen vehicle—based on the European B-Classs—around the world in some 125 days. (Phileas Fogg has nothing to fear from the impish M-B, it seems.)
Late last year, we saw spy photos of a 1-series hatchback bearing stickers that read, “Hybrid Test Vehicle.” Now, our spy shooter has sent us these images of a 1-Series hydrogen hybrid wearing the same stickers.
Mercedes-Benz has shown us a glimpse of the possible future of it’s automobiles with the F800 Style research vehicle. The five-seater is meant to showcase design language as well as technology, and can use either plug-in hybrid or hydrogen fuel cell drive systems.
