This year’s North American International Auto Show is shaping up to be quite a feast for automotive enthusiasts. While the usual suspects like the Ford, GM and Chrysler are expected to have a bevy of new high-profile performance offerings on hand, the 2014 show in particular has a dance card filled with interesting new product. Now Kia Motors, a brand typically not synonymous with sport-oriented vehicles, has announced they’ll have something tasty to bring to the party as well.
Acura has revealed a very close to production-ready concept of its upcoming ILX sedan, a car that will represent the new entry-level for the brand.
Once again, ladies and gentlemen, we have a Acura NSX future to be excited about. Yes, we’ve been down this path before, with a concept car that was lost in the rubble of the 2008 financial meltdown (and reportedly shut down even before that by execs who felt the last car was a move in the wrong direction), but hope springs eternal here at Cobo, and we want this Greenformance supercar to see the light of day.
When a concept car is called “E-Bugster,” and it proports to be a “speedster” that’s, very obviously, not a convertible, we’d forgive you for thinking that we made the whole thing up. Thankfully, we have live images of the imaginative concept car to back up the info you’ve already received.
The EV trend at the 2012 North American International Auto Show continued on the Volkswagen stand this morning, as the German automaker presented a Beetle-based concept car called (hilariously) the E-Bugster.
Just a moment ago we posted the First Look piece for the very cool 2013 Dodge Dart. Now, with the precision and skill that can only come with years of Cobo experience (the wireless here is sort of spotty), we present our gallery of live images of the car.
Dodge has pulled the wrapper off of its all new 2013 Dart compact, revealing a car with truly interesting design language and interesting powertrain options.
Determined to prove that it has staying power in the North American car market, Smart is preparing to show an all new concept cat to show goers here at the North American International Auto Show this year. Dubbed the Smart For-Us, the diminutive Euro is the company’s interpretation of an “iconic American pickup” and is powered with an electric motor.
Domestic automakers protected their home turf this morning at the Detroit auto show, with Chevrolet and Ford claiming top honors in the North American Car and Truck Of The Year voting
A lot of shiny new metal debuted at this year’s Detroit Auto Show. And while we’ve spent a lot of time fawning over a lot of the concepts and production cars that were unveiled, only a few really stand out in our minds as the best cars of the show.
If there’s one car on the Detroit show floor that really gets us all hot and bothered, it’s the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe. It’s production-ready, super fast, and gloriously hot. We give it a round of applause.
The aging Cadillac STS and DTS are long overdue for a replacement. Today, we get the first glimpse of what’s to come by way of the XTS Platinum concept, an all-new flagship model for Cadillac that builds on General Motors’ strong plan to include direct injection and hybrid technology in its lineup moving forward.
The Lincoln MKX (and it’s sister, the Ford Edge) are nearing the three-year-old mark, so it’s time for an update. And while the details on the 2011 Ford Edge are still under wraps (for now), the touched-up Lincoln officially makes its debut today at the Detroit Auto Show.
Hyundai’s Santa Fe crossover is only due for its mid-cycle refresh this year, but that doesn’t just mean touch-ups to the front six inches and rear six inches of the vehicle. Instead, Hyundai is making good on its promise to increase fuel efficiency across its lineup, and the Santa Fe will receive two new engines for the 2010 model year, as well as some other interior upgrades.
If there’s one car that really speaks to our enthusiast hearts at this year’s Detroit Auto Show, it’s the Buick Regal GS. And while General Motors is technically calling this a show car, we’re pretty much going to assume that it’ll be hitting dealerships within the next year.
This morning, GMC unveiled its new small car offering, the Granite concept. The little urban cruiser is about two feet shorter than the smallish Terrain, and is a whole new style of thinking for the GMC brand.
We have a confession to make: In its current form, the Chevrolet Aveo has been the butt of many a joke within the automotive industry. It isn’t nearly as good as anything else in the class, and in a time when more focus is being put on B- and C-segment cars, General Motors really disappointed with its smallest offering. But a new version is on the horizon. And judging by the preliminary information about the Aveo RS show car (which will appear next week at the Detroit Auto Show), drastic changes are in the works.
Under the bright lights of the Detroit Auto Show (which is only one week away), Hyundai will be unveiling its first ever plug-in hybrid, the Blue-Will. And while the show car is only a concept at this point, it showcases the future technologies that Hyundai could implement into its full lineup, such as roof-mounted solar cells, lithium polymer batteries, touch-screen controls, and drive-by-wire steering.
It’s a special time of the year here at Winding Road, when we think not only of the holiday season, but also the much-anticipated 2010 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. These are the cars that we think will steal a lot of the attention at the show, which we’ll be covering January 11 – 12. Don’t miss out on your chance to get down to Cobo, too—NAIAS opens to the public on January 16 and runs through January 24.
Chrysler will not be holding an official press conference during the Detroit Auto Show media preview, but a report from Bloomberg suggests that there will be something rather special sitting out on the show floor. A Chrysler-badged Lancia will be on hand to give show-goers a taste of what future offerings from the new Fiat partnership could bring to our shores.
