Jaguar Hilariously Rejects V8 Supercars Speculation
Calling it “frankly insane” and claiming “I don’t know what it does for AMG to get flogged by a V8 Commodore week after week, but it’s their brand, their issue. And the same thing will happen to Volvo to be honest,” Jaguar Land Rover’s Managing Director of the Asia Pacific region, David Blackhall, shot down all speculation that the Indo-British brand would be joining Ford, Holden, Mercedes-Benz AMG, Nissan, and Volvo in the Australian V8 Supercars series.
Ford Kills Australian Production
It’s a sad day for our friends down under. According to a story published in The Australian, the American brand that’s been building cars Down Under since the 1920s will cease production of Australian-specific models by October of 2016. The closure will result in the loss of 1200 jobs, although Ford would retain 1500 Australians for product development positions.
Holden VF Commodore Foreshadows Chevy SS
The VF Commodore sports a cleaner, less aggressive exterior. As the Chevrolet SS will essentially be a Commodore with new front and rear fascias, this should give you a good idea of just what America’s next sports sedan will look like. Our opinion? It’s not going to be a bad looking vehicle. And more importantly, because its a rear-drive Australian car, it should be an utter hoot to drive.
Chevrolet Announces New SS Sports Sedan, Based Off Holden Commodore
Those that have been in mourning for the Holden Commodore-based Pontiac G8 have some good news today. Chevrolet has announced that we’ll see a Commodore-based Chevy SS at the end of 2013, as a 2014 model. Even better news is that the new SS will be based not off the current VE Commodore, but the as-yet-unreleased VF Commodore.
