Parents are typically excited to welcome a new arrival to the family, and so we are excited to announce a new partnership between Winding Road Racing and Thunderhill Raceway Park through which WRR will be the on-site retail provider of motorsports equipment at Thunderhill.
This video lets you see a few POV laps of ChuckWalla Raceway. We’re calling it California’s “forgotten” track because when we talk to people, they name Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and Sonoma and Thunderhill, and sometimes know about Willow Springs and Buttonwillow, but they rarely mention ChuckWalla.
We’re pleased to announce the opening of our second location! The new office, which combines a storefront and a distribution warehouse, is located at 18437 Mt. Langely, Suite N in Fountain Valley.
For 2015, Ferrari’s best-selling vehicle becomes the first turbocharged road car from Maranello in 25 years. Perhaps seen as a concession to tightening emissions and fuel economy standards, any notion of the California’s reduced displacement and newfound forced induction as a drawback goes right out the window when you see and hear what it’s now capable of.
As automakers search for ways to meet the ever-increasing emissions and fuel efficiency standards, moving away from large displacement motors in favor of smaller, turbocharged alternatives is becoming an increasingly popular engineering trend, and the shift can be seen across the range, from economy vehicles and pickup trucks all the way to luxury sedans and supercars. CAR reports that, much like treatment given to the California T, which saw Ferrari ditch the California’s naturally aspirated 4.3-liter, 482 horsepower V8 in favor a biturbocharged, 553hp 3.9-liter V8, so too will the 458 Italia receive a smaller, boosted V8 for its 2015 mid-cycle refresh.
While we were hoping for a proper debut of the fourth generation Miata at this year’s New York Auto Show, when it comes to the forthcoming all-new Miata, we’ll take what we can get. And what we get is word from Mazda that the Skyactiv chassis of the newest MX-5 will be leaner, meaner, and more honest to the original intent of the diminutive sports car.
Mazda Motorsports has announced that it will run two Skyactiv-D diesel-powered prototype racecars in the 2014 Tudor United SportsCar Championship series, which replaces both ALMS and Grand-Am racing series.
Hyundai has announced that a Legato Concept developed in partnership with Ark Performance will be on display at SEMA in Las Vegas this November. Based on the Genesis Coupe, the Legato receives an upgraded design and performance enhancements.
Hyundai is teaming up with Bisimoto Engineering to wring 1000 horsepower out of a Lambda 3.8-liter V-6 in a Genesis Coupe.
Bulleta is one of those niche automakers we love so well, and the California-based company has taken the wraps off a hot little supercar. The RF22 is based on the Lotus Exige, inspired by the F22 Raptor fighter jet, and was designed by Samhir Sadikhov, whose name you might know from his Aston Martin DBC renderings, or his second-place entry in the 2011 Ferrari World Design Challenge.
