Poised to go head to head with the likes of the McLaren P1 and the Ferrari LaFerrari, Porsche’s new flagship hypercar has some serious competition to contend with. But if Auto Express’s assessment of the 918 is reasonable indication of what to expect, it may be the opposition who have something to be worried about.
The CLS, Gran Coupe, and A7 run the gamut, with base models retailing for well under six figures, while the AMG, M, and RS versions easily creep past $100,000. If the rumors from British rag Auto Express are any indication, Germany’s entries could see some serious, high-end competition from none other than Bentley.
The upcoming BLS, aimed at Audi’s A3 sedan, was recently snapped and scooped by Auto Express while doing some cold weather testing. While the heavy camouflage obscures visual details, we do know that power should be supplied by a 1.6-liter gasoline engine or, in true European form, a 1.8-liter diesel engine.
