There were a ton of great battles all-race-long, though this one in particular caught our eye: #4 and #29 Audi R8s duking it out through the menacing course while dealing with a lot of traffic.
In this video, Tedward takes us on a POV drive in a 2018 Audi R8 “standard” V10 edition. As always with the POV videos, we recommend headphones for the best binaural audio experience.
Audi Sport customer racing has announced the advent of ordering for the R8 LMS GT4.
While we thoroughly enjoyed our recent stint with the R8 V10 Plus, we also noted that the first generation of Audi’s supercar was starting to show some signs that it was ready for a major update. With a new second-generation R8 due out next year that will share substantial portion of its underpinnings with the Lamborghini Huracán (much the way the current car shares tech with the Gallardo), Audi saw fit to give the first generation R8 a proper send-off in the form of the R8 V10 Competition – the most powerful production car in Audi’s history.
Audi research and development board member Ulrich Hackenberg had some choice details to share with the UK’s Car magazine, explaining in no uncertain terms that not only will the new R8 share its platform with the Lamborghini Huracán, it will also be available with a choice of gas, hybrid and full electric powertrains.
Watch as Nick Tandy in the No. 31 EFFORT Racing Porsche GT3 R battles with Mike Skeen in the No. 2 Hawk Performance Audi R8 Ultra and Kuno Wittmer in the No. 92 Dodge/SRT Motorsports Dodge Viper SRT GT3-R for the top spot in the July 20th Pirelli World Challenge race at the Honda Indy Toronto, Round 10 of the 2014 season.
The supercar, on a conceptual level, is an enticing proposition – a purpose built performance vehicle with exceptional capability and a striking aesthetic – a car that brings a sense of occasion to even the most mundane driving task. In practice however, there’s a multitude of situations where that formula is less than ideal – like when you’re hobbling along in traffic or when forced to traverse through some unforgiving city streets, for instance – and it becomes clear that the supercar formula was really designed for use under ideal driving conditions. But therein lies the brilliance of the R8 V10 Plus, because Audi has actually found a way to make it all work, satisfying just about every need that an enthusiast could want in a sports car while somehow also giving the R8 enough adjustability, subtly, and good manners to make this a supercar you could legitimately use every day.
As we are now into the second half of the 2014 Pirelli World Challenge season, a lot has changed in the GT ranks, especially for our Hawk Performance/CRP Racing team. Those that have been following along will remember that we changed to an Audi R8 after the season had already begun, so we had to learn quickly to get up to speed. After our successes at Road America, we are well and truly in the championship hunt and our primary goal is narrowing the gap to the points leader, O’Connell.
On Monday, June 23rd, I found myself flying out to Colorado Springs, Colorado, for the 92nd running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. I was fresh off a pair of wins at Road America in our Hawk Performance Audi R8 Ultra, but it was time to transition into Rookie Mode. There were lots of unknowns for us at this new event, but some of my team members had beaten me there with our Hawk Performance Nissan GT-R and were getting everything ready to go.

After a decade-long run and 14,000 sales – almost half of the total number of Lamborghinis sold in the company’s 51 year history – the Gallardo is finally being put out to pasture, and the Huracan has stepped in to take its place. Its all-new aluminum and carbon fiber chassis, active suspension and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission all point the way to a thoroughly modernized driving experience on paper, but what’s it like behind the wheel?
As production of the SLS AMG winds down, it’s hard not to be a little downtrodden about word of another sports car with a snarling V8 under the hood being put out to pasture. Fortunately, the loss of the SLS is simply a means of making way for another, even more sharply focused sports car destined for the Mercedes-Benz catalogue in the form of the Mercedes-AMG GT.

The new Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 caused quite a stir with an speedy lap in the rain. Now the Alfa Romeo 4C has shaken things up with the quickest time for a sub-250-horsepower car.
