In this installment of The Guide we’ll take a look at HPDE and track days, which are perhaps the easiest and possibly most common – along with Autocross — entry point to road racing. As a refresher, we took a couple of cars to a weekend track day held by Edge Addicts at Circuit of the Americas.

Reports from the Wall Street Journal are true: Bernie Ecclestone will get his wish of an F1 race in the shadow of Manhattan’s skyline. The United States will be hosting not one, but two Grands Prix. Besides the sophomore race at the purpose-built Circuit of the Americas in Austin, a street circuit will be constructed along the Hudson River in Weehawken and West New York.
The Australian V8 Supercar series has announced plans to race at Austin’s Circuit of The America’s starting in 2013. It will join the revived Formula 1 United States Grand Prix as well as a round of the MotoGP World Championship, meaning that Texas will soon be boasting some of the best racing on the planet. Texas Governor Rick Perry and Premier of Queensland, Anna Bligh made the announcement.
