Winding Road Video: 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8

Reviews I By Brandon Turkus I December 19, 2011
Powered by a 6.4-liter Hemi V-8, Chrysler’s new 300 SRT8 is, to put it simply, a beast. There’s no better way of illustrating that fact than by taking it out for a few acceleration runs on the wet roads around the Winding Road offices.

With 475 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque on tap, grip is a precious commodity. Once it hooks up though, the SRT8 can accelerate with some serious gusto, and does so with a bassy bellow that is pure muscle car.

This isn’t just a point-and-squirt muscle car though. It comes with plenty of tech, including a whole suite of SRT applications to monitor vehicle systems, measure forward, rearward, and lateral g-forces, and acceleration and braking times. It’s also a fine place to cover a lot of miles, featuring SRT-specific seats, a fat steering wheel, and some very nice dash materials and carbon fiber accents. We’re also pretty fond of the nineteen-speaker Harmon Kardon stereo.
