Preview: Koenigsegg Agera S

Reviews I By John Beltz Snyder I June 17, 2013
Swedish carmaker Koenigsegg has released details about its newest member of the Agera line, the Agera S. With lightweight carbon fiber construction and massive performance figures, it slots in nicely under the Agera R, and runs on regular gasoline.

With a curb weight of 3120 pounds, the Agera S is powered by a biturbocharged 5.0-liter V-8 producing 1030 horsepower and 811 pound feet of torque. Using its seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, it’ll only take 2.9 seconds to sprint from 0-62 miles per hour. Top speed, according to Agera, is over 400 kilometers per hour, or 248 mph (over 420 kph/260mph if the announcer in the video below is to be believed)!

With 19-inch carbon wheels up front, and 20-inchers in the rear, each wrapped in dedicated Michelin Supersport tires, the Agera S can pull 1.6 lateral g-force in a corner. The car features an adaptable rear wing, and at 155 miles per hour, the Agera S boasts 661 pounds of downforce.

In addition to its lightweight carbon-fiber construction and insane performance figures, Koenigsegg seems particularly proud of the luggage space in the Agera S, at 4.2 cubic feet, and the fact that the removable roof can be stored in the front of the vehicle.

One example of the Koenigsegg Agera S is reported to have sold in Singapore for the rough equivalent of $4.2 million.
