This weekend, motorsports joy arrives at the shores of Lake St. Croix for a series of races at Belle Isle. Nestled between the midwestern city of Detroit and maple-leaf-emblazoned city of Windsor, Ontario, this street circuit will be hosting both the IMSA Weather Tech Sportscar Championship (qualifying on Friday, race on Saturday) and IndyCar (qualifying and race 1 on Saturday, qualifying and race 2 on Sunday). The weather is looking nice, with a slight chance of rain on Saturday and upper-60s all weekend long. We wish we could catch the action in-person; cold 6-pack of Vernor’s ginger ale and all!
500 miles to the East as the crow flies, NASCAR Monster Energy and Xfinity Series head to Pocono Raceway, with practice on Friday, Xfinity qualifying and race on Saturday, and Monster’s qualifying on Saturday and race on Sunday.
Finally, the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series heads to the jewel of Northern Illinois, Elwood, for a full weekend of quarter-mile mayhem at Route 66 Raceway, with Top Alcohol, Pro Stock, and Nitro Eliminations going down on Sunday.
