The Season Finale of the 2019 Spec MX-5 SimRacing Challenge!

News, Racing I By Winding Road Staff I October 22, 2019

Seven months… forty sim-racers… ten tracks… twenty events… two-hundred and sixty laps… twenty hours of racing; that's how the 2019 Spec MX-5 SimRacing Challenge looks on paper but as one of those forty drivers you know it was more than that. This competition is a chance to live out a dream, and for others it's an opportunity to compare yourself to some of the best sim-racers in the country.

We all know there can only be one winner and whether you were looking to kickstart your passion for real-life motorsports, or prove something, the Spec MX-5 SimRacing Challenge is a legitimate forum to showcase the importance of virtual racing in today’s motorsport.

Be it luck or sheer talent, the series' points system for the finale provides a fighting chance for any one of the 20 drivers to walk away with the ultimate sim-to-reality opportunity by choosing the 2-day HPDE at COTA in a Spec MX-5 Challenge car; a competition licensing school in a Spec MX-5 Challenge car or a driver development test in a Spec MX-5 Challenge car at COTA.

For this event we return to the demanding Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta track with it's tricky yet satisfying esses, punishing exit of T5 and the long back straight that culminates in the dramatic downhill approach to the finish line.

The action starts Wednesday night at 8:30 PM EST, watch it here!

A big thank you to our forward-looking sponsors, especially Tom Martin of the Spec MX-5 Challenge Series and the staff at Winding Road Racing; Pete Stolz of LevelUp Racing School; Frank Rico of Ricmotech, and others who contributed their time and expertise to the series this year.
