Rumors: Spy Shots–The Next BMW M3

News I By Doran Dal Pra I March 06, 2012

The steady handed spy photographers over at PistonSpy recently snapped BMW’s new F80 M3 out doing some winter testing. The four-door model they captured is still heavily adorned with camouflage, and much of the car’s specific are still under wraps as well.

It’s rumored the new M3 will arrive packing a biturbo 3.3-liter V-6 that’s fitted with an energy recovering KERS system, good for around 450 horsepower. It will also likely the car will benefit from substantial weight reduction over the current model—combined with the power increase, this should make it the quickest iteration of the M3 to date.
The current generation M3 has a high-revving 4.0-liter V-8 under the hood that makes 414 horsepower, and crushes the sprint to 60 miles per hour in about 4.4 seconds. Considering how dominant that car is, the next generation M3—which should land as a 2013 model—ought to be out of this world.
