Rumors: Spy Shots—The Ford Fiesta Gets A Facelift

News I By Doran Dal Pra I March 14, 2012

Ford has sold millions of the diminutive Fiesta hatchback since the car’s introduction in the early 1970’s. The current generation Fiesta—known as the Mark 6—has been with us since 2008 and the spy photographers over at Carscoop recently snapped a heavily camouflaged Fiesta out doing some winter testing.

This updated iteration of the Fiesta could bow at the upcoming Paris Motor Show featuring some fairly substantial upgrades. The hood, bumpers, grille, foglamps and headlamps will likely get the nip-and-tuck treatment, and the rear of the car will benefit from some stylistic attention as well. Inside, the Fiesta will likely receive Ford’s SYNC system, along with mild cosmetic updates.
Far and away the biggest news for the facelifted Fiesta is the introduction of Ford’s new 1.0-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost into its engine bay. We featured this new engine in an earlier Rumors post and you can follow the link to read about it here. Power output in the Fiesta should come in two flavors—an economical 99 horsepower version and a spritely 123 horsepower adaptation. That particular EcoBoost engine is rumored to make around 177 horsepower in some of Ford’s future hot models.
