The spy photographers over at MotorAuthority recently caught what appears to be a two door Rolls-Royce Ghost prototype out on the road. It’s rumored that this car could revive the legendary Corniche namplate, last used back in 2000. BMW, the parent company to Rolls-Royce, recently filed a trademark for the name ‘Corniche’ and if that is anything to go by, this heavily camoflauged Rolls may wear that name again.
While the Ghost is stately and elegant, this prototype is surprisingly sleek and sporty with a sloping roofline and a neatly sculpted rear end. The multiple door handles—designed to give the impression of a four-door car—are likely there to confuse onlookers and the car should arrive wearing only two doors. Power and performance are likely to be similar to the Ghost as that car’s biturbo 6.6-liter V-12 should be carried over into the two-door variant seen here. No word yet on when this car will arrive on the road, but if it does, expect pricing to be quintessential Rolls-Royce—stratospheric.
