Rumors: Model News—Lamborghini Working On An Aventador GT?

News I By Doran Dal Pra I October 09, 2012
Color us a bit surprised by this tasty little rumor—Lamborghini is apparently bringing a four-door GT version of its Aventador supercar to the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. At this point it’s all hearsay, but sources close to CAR Magazine are reporting that the company is seriously considering this option.
There are no specifics on what the Aventador GT would look like, but its grand touring credentials could be achieved through two small jump seats in the back and two small suicide-style doors grafted onto the exterior. Styling would probably be toned down slightly from the Aventador’s extreme jet fighter looks, and the wheelbase would likely be lengthened to accommodate rear passengers. If the overall effect resembles the Estoque concept car that Lamborghini debuted back in 2008 at the Paris Motor Show (can you believe that was four years ago already?) it should look properly excellent.
While a four-door version of Lamborghini’s hardest supercar does seem a little out of place, consider that Ferrari just released the F12berlinetta, a big grand tourer with north of 700 horsepower, as well as the enormously potent, four-passenger FF.
Stay tuned as more juicy details are unearthed.
