Rumors: Model News — BMW’s Unconfirmed Supercar To Be Called M8?

News I By Brandon Turkus I November 21, 2012
BMW’s long-denied supercar may have a name if a report from MotorAuthority is correct. We’ve been hoping for a production version of the M1 Homage from a few years back. Rather than use the legendary M1 as its namesake, though, the new model would be called M8.

If the report is true, the M8 would arrive in 2016 with power from a force-induced, mid-engined V-8 that delivers 600 M-developed horses. The report also claims the production M8 will share a chassis with the i8 plug-in hybrid, which should guarantee a low curb weight.

Now, 2016 is quite a long ways away. A lot can happen between now and then, so we’d advise you to take this news with a große grain of salt.
