According to a new report from Motori Online, Ferrari is in the process of creating several new engines that will appear under the hoods of new vehicles from Lancia, Maserati, and Alfa Romeo. It’s rumored that a new Ferrari biturbo V-6 and a naturally aspirated V-8 will make their way into several new Maserati models including the next generation Quattroporte as well as the company’s forthcoming SUV, and premium models from Alfa Romeo and Lancia. The new V-8 should replace the existing 4.3 and 4.7-liter V-8s that see duty in the current generation Quattroporte and other vehicles.
Fiat—the parent company to all these brands—is looking to reduce fuel consumption and overall emissions across its range of cars, and new engine development is already underway at other Fiat brands. The investment on the part of Ferrari is some $60,000,000 which will likely include an expansion of its facilities and the hiring of additional workers to accomodate the manufacturing demands of the new engines.
