According to a recent report from the French automotive magazine L’Automobile, BMW could be debuting another addition to its ‘i’ car lineup at the Los Angeles Motor Show, which takes place from November 30 to December 9. BMW’s ‘i’ sub-brand currently consists of the sporty i8 hybrid and the fully electric i3 city car. Both cars have yet to be confirmed for production, but the company has been heavily engaged in the creation of the two cars and this new forward thinking, environmentally focused brand. The i4, which is still purely a concept vehicle, is essentially a sportier, two-door version of the i3.
Should the i4 reach production, it would likely use a version of the i3’s 170 horsepower electric motor. That grunt, in conjunction with the i3’s light weight, should propel it to 60 miles per hour in under eight seconds. For the *ahem* privilege of two fewer doors and sporting pretentions, the i4 would likely command a premium over the i3, putting it somewhere near the $50,000 mark.
The LA Motor Show kicks off in just a few weeks, so keep an eye on the interwebs for all the interesting details on the i4.
