“Porsche Young Driver Academy” Is The Racing Reality Show You’ve Been Waiting For

Porsche is in the midst of searching for its next great factory driver, and it’s turned to a quartet of 20-somethings to take part in the first annual Porsche Young Driver Academy. The four young men, all under the age of 25, are some of the best in their current racing disciplines. 

 

Spencer Pigot is the youngest of the bunch, at just 19 years of age. He’s won the USF2000 WinterFest and has recently signed with Team Pelfrey in the Pro Mazda Championship. 20-year-old Cooper MacNeil is a Chicago-area native, and completed his rookie season in the American Le Mans Series in 2012. Sean Johnston is a graduate of Nissan’s GT Academy finishing second during the Silverstone-based competition. Finally, 23-year-old Kyle Marcelli is the only non-American contender, hailing from Canada. Last year, he ran for Pfaff Automotive Group in the Canadian Porsche GT3 Cup.

 

The contest will take place at Barber Motorsports Park, in Birmingham, Alabama. The entire affair will be condensed into a short documentary that will air on Porsche’s YouTube channel on May 9. We’ll post that video when it goes live. Until then, enjoy this short preview of the documentary.
