Porsche will be storming Le Mans 4-liters-a-blazin’ this Summer at the 88th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. With four 911 RSRs putting out around 515 horsepower apiece and a whopping dozen drivers, they’ll be seeking victory after reaching the podium in 2019 and not being too far beneath it in 2019.

In the ranks are WEC Drivers Champions Kévin Estre (France) and Michael Christensen (Denmark), as well as the IMSA champions Earl Bamber (New Zealand) and Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium). Richard Lietz (Austria), Frédéric Makowiecki and Patrick Pilet (France), Nick Tandy (Great Britain) and Gianmaria Bruni (Italy) have also stood at the top of the podium at major endurance events like Le Mans, the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, the Ardennes marathon at Spa-Francorchamps and our beloved Daytona and Sebring. Frenchmen Julien Andlauer and Mathieu Jaminet, as well as Matt Campbell (Australia), round off the list of drivers taking to the famous French circuit in June.

What’s more, is three of the Frenchmen in the lineup have a long, driver-development-centric history together. Patrick Pilet mentored Jaminet and Andlauer when they joined the French Porsche Carrera Cup a few years back. In recent years, Jaminet won the French Porsche Carrera Cup in 2016, and Andlauer was a part of the GTE-Am class victory at Le Mans in 2018. Now, they’ll all be racing together at Le Mans. “I’ve accompanied Mathieu and Julien for quite some time on their journey as racing drivers and I’ve developed a close bond with them” Pilet said of their history together. “It’s an honor and a pleasure for me to share the cockpit at Le Mans with these two talented young men. Together, we’ll attempt to win the world’s most prestigious endurance race.”

With double podiums at Le Mans in 2018, plus countless elsewhere all over the globe since, they’ve got all the momentum in the world to achieve more sweet victory in 2020. Fritz Enzinger, VP of Motorsport at Porsche, summed up their determination the best:

“Fielding the four works cars again in the GTE-Pro category at Le Mans underlines how important this classic is for Porsche. With the championship squads from the FIA WEC and the IMSA WeatherTech Championship, we have a treasure trove of expertise at the start plus a good balance of experienced and young drivers. We aim to fight for victory, but we know from experience that such long-distance races are full of surprises.”

Indeed they are, and we can’t wait for COTA, Sebring, the Nürburgring, Le Mans, and more!
