Maserati Ghibli Previewed Ahead Of Shanghai Show

News I By Brandon Turkus I April 09, 2013
We posted yesterday that Maserati would be unveiling images of the new Ghibli sedan on Wednesday, ahead of a full debut at the 2013 Shanghai auto show later this month. Yet, here are small set of images a full day ahead of time. We didn’t think you’d mind.

The Ghibli is an attractive car, there’s no denying that. It sports the current design language pioneered by the GranTurismo, and refined on the Quattroporte, and translates them into a smaller overall package. Considering the Ghibli will be going toe-to-toe with the conservatively styled Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5-Series, and Audi A6, the passionate Italian styling should be a success with buyers.

We’ll have to wait until it arrives in Shanghai for the complete details, but we can tell you that the Ghibli will come to market with a pair of force-induced V-6s, an eight-speed auto, and the option of the Q4 all-wheel-drive system. Oddly, this will also be the first Maser to offer a diesel engine. Make of that what you will.

Considering Maserati is aiming to move 50,000 units a year, the Ghibli will need to be a big success. Based on looks alone, that shouldn’t be an issue.
