Lotus Esprit Cancelled, New Variants To Come

News I By John Beltz Snyder I July 23, 2013
Lotus will not be creating any of the new models it had planned, with the Esprit the latest to be cancelled. Instead, it will focus on selling variants of current models—Elise, Exige, and Evora.

Managing director of Lotus financier DRB-HICOM, Tan Sri Mohd Khamil Jamil, said that the company’s finances have been sorted out, and that variants of existing products will feature “improved technology, improved performance, improved quality as well as improved costing.”

Khamil also said we can expect a new Lotus variant to be launched next month.

While we were excited to see the new models Lotus had planned, we’re perfectly happy that the company will continue to improve upon the lightweight sports cars we know and love.
