Liberty State Park in Jersey City, New Jersey may be the host to a United States Formula 1 grand prix. According to reports, a venue with the New York City skyline as a backdrop is being discussed for 2012 to 2016, and the park has emerged as a possible location.
The 1212-acre Liberty State Park, built largely on landfill, features riverfront along the Hudson, a 36-acre nature preserve, interstate access, and, of course, a spectacular view of the Manhattan skyline and various historic landmarks.
Formula 1 is looking at other possible venues, but the possibility of Liberty State Park became public when an opposition group showed documents including plans for a 3.6-mile track in the Jersey City park.
