We've been saying that "lower" series often provide more exciting racing than the snooze fest that we sometime see from F1 or IMSA. While we're on this soapbox, we also tend to point out that these alternative series also provide some darn close racing well into the field and deep into the race. Here we see Winding Road Team TFB driver Tom Martin (#21, sponsored by WindingRoadRacing.com) in a close battle with Hernan Palermo (#20, Slipstream Performance) and Max Faulkner (#82, MMR) in Race 2 of the 2017 Battery Tender Global MX-5 Cup series at Barber Motorsports Park. We pick up the action on a twilight re-start with storm clouds threatening and these drivers scrapping over 11th place. Barber's flowing nature means there are few passing spots and Martin has to pick his spots to get by Palermo and then Faulkner. Carpe Diem was the operative concept. While Carpe Diem is latin for "seize the day" and thus seems aggressive, in racing it sometimes requires patience. It is not always daytime.
