The 3rd gen Lexus GX has arrived, marking the first full upgrade for the GX since the 2nd generation was introduced in 2010. This new iteration of the beloved SUV comes as a complete surprise to enthusiasts like myself who fell in love with the first generation (my daily is a 2006 GX470). The all-new boxy style of the 2024 GX brings a refreshing and bold look that I (and most of you) definitely find appealing.

It combines the brand’s signature sophisticated features with off-road capability, creating a truly unique offering in the adventure-ready SUV segment. The GX has spent 20 years in the Sport Utility Segment, and this redesign further solidifies its position as what Lexus has coined a “Sophisticated Utility Vehicle.”

With the unveiling of the 2024 GX, Lexus introduces a new legend to its lineup. Since its debut in 2002, the first-generation GX made a strong impression in the mid-luxury SUV market. In fact, the 2024 GX pioneers the global Lexus “Overtrail Project,” making it the first vehicle to bring this initiative to life. Under the hood, the 2024 GX unsurprisingly ditches the V8 and now boasts a powerful 3.4L twin-turbo V6 engine that produces an impressive 349 horsepower and 479 lb.-ft. of torque. Additionally, a hybrid powertrain option is expected to be introduced later, further enhancing the SUV’s efficiency and eco-friendliness.
