Brad Pitt’s F1 Film to Begin Shooting at Silverstone

Lifestyle, News I By Justin Cornelison I May 05, 2023

Apple’s new blockbuster will begin shooting at the British GP this summer, seeing Brad Pitt’s F1 film realize true on-track action.  The film, which is being produced by Apple Studios and boasts F1 superstar Lewis Hamilton as a co-producer, will tell the story of a retired driver who comes out of retirement to race alongside a rookie driver.

Brad Pitt’s F1 film will be directed by Joseph Kosinski, the man behind Top Gun: Maverick, and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Seven-time world champion Hamilton has been working on the script for the film and is said to be in regular contact with the filmmakers.

Pitt will drive an adapted Formula 2 car, which has been customized by Hamilton’s Mercedes F1 team, on an empty track at Silverstone. The car will have a 6K camera installed to capture footage for the movie. The shoot is expected to take place between sessions, with no other cars on the track.

Speaking about the project, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has previously stated that it will be an “invasive” project, with filming taking place within the F1 paddock and at events. However, he has also expressed his excitement about the film, saying that it will bring the sport to a wider audience.

For Hamilton, the focus has been on getting the script right, ensuring that the film is as authentic as possible. “Joe’s focus is to make us as embedded in this sport as possible,” Hamilton said. “For me, it’s to make sure it’s authentic, and that all of you and racing fans see its authenticity and say ‘this is believable’, and have a view of racing from a different perspective than you might see on TV.”

Brad Pitt’s F1 film is yet to be given a title, but with Lewis Hamilton seemingly heavily involved, it’s sure to generate a lot of excitement. For racing fans, it will be an opportunity to see the sport they love from a different perspective, and for film fans, it will be a chance to see two of the biggest names in Hollywood and sport come together for a thrilling new project.
