Big Apple Debut Planned For New Range Rover Sport

News I By Brandon Turkus I March 11, 2013
Land Rover’s new, fourth-generation Range Rover was a huge leap over the third-generation SUV. Therefore, it’s logical to assume that the Range Rover Sport will be a similarly big update. We’ll find out for certain in just a few weeks, as Land Rover has announced that the new Range Rover Sport is coming to the 2013 New York International Auto Show.

It’s difficult to know what to expect when it comes to the Range Rover Sport. The current model has more in common with the LR4 than it does with any Range Rover. Could this new model actually be based on the all-new Range Rover? Or could it be the debut of the platform that will also underpin the new LR4 (or, LR5, we guess)?

We’ll get our answers on March 26 in New York.

Ground-breaking live drive to be broadcast to global audiences

The all-new Range Rover Sport will make its global premiere in a ground breaking live drive through Manhattan, New York, on 26 March.  Land Rover’s fastest, most responsive and most agile vehicle to date will be revealed to audiences around the world on the eve of the 2013 New York Auto Show.

The drive will take place on the streets of the Range Rover Sport’s largest market – New York City.  More Sports are sold in New York than any other metropolitan area in the world and the model is North America’s best-selling Land Rover product.

In a first for Land Rover, the event will be broadcast live to global audiences via a dedicated microsite – www.newrangeroversport.com.  Those registering on the site will receive a personal invitation to watch the live reveal on 26 March as well as exclusive extra content and information.

The all-new Range Rover Sport is the latest addition to the new Range Rover family of vehicles and the third Range Rover model to be launched in two years.  It follows the launch of the acclaimed Range Rover Evoque in 2011 and the peerless all-new Range Rover in 2012.
John Edwards, Land Rover Global Brand Director, said: "The all-new Range Rover Sport takes the model to another level.  It is Land Rover’s most dynamic vehicle yet and showcases the best of British design, engineering and technological innovation."

Full details of the all-new Range Rover Sport will be revealed on 26 March at 19:30 EDT (Eastern Daylight Time).
