Ariel has announced, in tandem, the Spec Racer Atom car and race series. The SRA is a modified version of the Ariel Atom 3 set up specifically for racing in this series. Purchase of the car includes a first year Virginia International Raceway Club initiation fee.
The complete, race-ready Spec Racer Atom costs $38,500, and comes with a naturally aspirated four-cylinder Honda K20 engine, six-speed gearbox, modified and reinforced chassis, spec track brake package, spec DOT tires, TMI race prep and setup. As the manufacturer puts it, the purpose-built SRA “comes equipped with everything that you need to race, but nothing that you don’t.” In fact, the only option available is a seat for a passenger.
The SRA race series takes place at Virginia International Raceway, and consists of ten events over five weekends between June 11 and November 27, 2011. The cost to race is $210 per event, and cars can be stored on-site throughout the series. More details and full race schedule are available at Ariel/TMI’s website.
