Video: Castello Cavalcanti Is A Short Racing Film By Wes Anderson

Features I By John Beltz Snyder I November 18, 2013
Castello Cavalcanti is a short film written and directed by Wes Anderson and about a driver in a long-distance race in 1955 Italy. If you’re a fan of the films Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, or The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou, or appreciate some good old racing humor, take eight minutes out of your day to watch this.

Be warned, though, there is a bit of moderately blue language toward the beginning, so take your surroundings into consideration before you turn up the volume.

The fictional race is called Molte Miglia (Italian for “Many Miles”), which we’re sure is the Anderson universe’s version of the historical Mille Miglia thousand-mile race throughout Italy. It begins with the townsfolk waiting at night for the action to pass through their square.

Jason Schwartzman plays a driver who makes quite an entrance into what happens to be his ancestral village. We won’t ruin it for you. Enjoy the short film, below.

“Don’t worry. It’s just a racecar.”
