Video: Aston Martin’s V12 Vantage Meets a Gulf LMP1 Racer

Features I By Brandon Turkus I December 25, 2010

While you might be tucking-in to a nice breakfast on this fine Christmas morning, we thought you might enjoy a bit of audio/visual entertainment. This video features Aston Martin’s V12 Vantage road car and the DBR1-2 Gulf Oil LMP1 Le Mans racer assaulting a lonely piece of road.

With a 6.0-liter V-12, the Vantage puts all 510 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels through an old-school six-speed manual transmission. No paddle shifters here! There are however, paddle shifters on the Gulf Oil-livered racer. Featuring a derivation of the same V-12 engine, this time tuned for roughly 650 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, the DBR1-2 races in the LMP1 class of world endurance racing. It won the 2009 Le Mans Championship, and managed to snag three podiums during the 2010 season. Did we mention it has awesome Gulf Oil livery?

Enjoy the video, and have a very merry Christmas.
