In this Speed Secrets, Ross talks about smoothness and tire usage. Which is fine. But this all presumes you can and will run at or very near the limit.
So, let’s start with smooth is not fast if you are running at 95%. And let’s add that most amateur racing is sprint racing where tire management isn’t the issue. Here Ross discusses why smoothness is talked about so much by pros, but may be almost irrelevant for amateurs.
