Mercedes-Benz has introduced the all-new 2024 E-class sedan, which is a combines traditional three-box sedan proportions to include futuristic interior features. The 2024 E-class is equipped with standard hybridized powertrains and a high-tech cabin that includes a third screen in front of the passenger.
The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-class sedan has a slightly longer wheelbase than the outgoing model, which provides improved interior space, and the bodywork is a few inches wider than the previous model. The exterior design is visually linked to the EQE by the black trim between the headlights and grille. The taillights feature two star-shaped elements on either side of the full-width housing (maybe our favorite feature?).
The high-tech interior of the 2024 E-class sedan shows supple leather and metal switchgear, along with ambient lighting that wraps around the dashboard. An optional package allows the lighting to pulse with the beat of the music playing on the Burmester surround sound system. Mercedes has integrated several third-party apps, including Zoom, TikTok, and Angry Birds, into the infotainment system making it easy for passengers to stream videos and games while on the move.
Mercedes has also equipped the 2024 E-class sedan with a dashboard-mounted camera that senses the driver’s eyes wandering from the road towards the screen. If the camera detects this, the system blocks the content, ensuring the driver’s focus is on the road (we also love this feature). The Superscreen also includes a selfie and video camera that allows for recording or video calls when the vehicle is stationary. The E-class also features augmented reality for navigation, which overlays arrows onto live images from the car’s cameras.
The 2024 E-class sedan has two hybridized powertrains: the E350 and the E450. Both engines have an integrated starter-generator running off a 48-volt electrical system, with the electric motor contributing a boost of 23 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque. The E350 uses a 255-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four, while the E450 has a turbo 3.0-liter inline-six producing 375 horsepower and 369 pound-feet.
The 2024 E-class sedan uses a multilink suspension at each corner, with an optional air suspension replacing the base steel-spring setup as part of the Technology package. The Technology package also adds rear-wheel steering, helping make the E-class nimbler at lower speeds by reducing the turning circle by nearly three feet.
The E-class sedan has many standard driver-assistance features, including active steering with lane-centering and automatic lane changes. However, these features continue to be part of an optional Driver Assistance Plus package.
Mercedes has not yet revealed when the E-class sedan will be available for sale in the United States. Still, it is expected to hit dealerships before the end of the year, and the pricing should start around $60,000, which is a slight bump over the outgoing 2023 model.
The all-new 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-class sedan is a blend of traditional styling and high-tech features. It is equipped with hybridized powertrains, and the interior has a futuristic feel with multiple screens and third-party apps, making it a perfect vehicle for drivers who love a classic design with the latest technology. Something Mercedes-Benz’s customers have become accustomed to, so no surprises here.
