It’s been 60 years since the iconic Italian sports car maker Lamborghini was founded by Ferruccio Lamborghini. From its humble beginnings in 1963, the company has grown to become a household name for supercar enthusiasts around the world. Today, Automobili Lamborghini has over 2000 employees and delivered 9,233 cars in 2022. To mark this momentous occasion, the company has planned a series of events for Lamborghini’s 60th anniversary celebration.

Lamborghini’s 60th anniversary celebration began in January with the opening of the newly renovated Lamborghini Museum in Sant’Agata Bolognese. The museum now boasts an impressive collection of Lamborghinis, including some of the rarest and most iconic models from the past six decades. The exhibition “The Future Began In 1963” takes visitors on a journey through the company’s history, showcasing the evolution of Lamborghini’s design and engineering over the years.
The celebrations continued in April with “Lamborghini Day UK – 60th Anniversary”, where over 380 Lamborghinis gathered at the Silverstone circuit. The event was a huge success, with enthusiasts and owners coming together to celebrate the marque’s rich history and bright future. The event was followed by “Lamborghini Day Japan – 60th Anniversary” in Suzuka, which was equally successful.
The highlight of the celebrations is the Lamborghini’s “60th Anniversary Giro” tour, which will take place in Italy from 24 May to 28 May. The tour will see over 150 Lamborghinis taking to the roads of Italy, culminating in a Concours d’Elegance open to the public in Piazza Maggiore in Bologna. It’s an event not to be missed for any Lamborghini enthusiast.
Looking back at Lamborghini’s history, it’s clear that the company has always pushed the boundaries of design and engineering. Ferruccio Lamborghini founded the company after a disagreement with Enzo Ferrari, who he believed didn’t take his ideas seriously. Ferruccio was determined to create a car that was not only beautiful but also technologically advanced. His vision was to create a car that was faster, more powerful, and more luxurious than anything on the road.

The first Lamborghini, the 350 GT, was launched in 1964, followed by the iconic Miura in 1966. The Miura was a game-changer in the supercar world, with its mid-engine layout and stunning design. The company continued to innovate over the years, producing models such as the Countach, Diablo, Murciélago, and Aventador, to name a few.
Looking ahead, Lamborghini is poised for a bright future. The company is committed to sustainability, with plans to launch its first hybrid model, the Revuelto, in 2023. The Revuelto is powered by a V12 engine, but also features a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, which provides additional power and torque. Lamborghini is also exploring new technologies, such as electric powertrains and carbon fiber construction, to ensure that its future models are even faster, more powerful, and more advanced than ever before.
Lamborghini’s 60th anniversary is a celebration of a company that has revolutionized the automotive industry. From its humble beginnings in 1963 to the world-famous brand it is today, Lamborghini has always been about pushing the boundaries of design and engineering. The celebrations planned for this year are a testament to the marque’s enduring popularity and its bright future. As the company looks ahead to the next 60 years, we can only imagine what incredible machines they will create.
