Gear: AIM GT Steering Wheel

Features I By Winding Road Staff I August 07, 2013
No, this isn’t a toy or part of a simulator. It’s a new, real steering wheel, and it combines precision handling with programmable buttons, real-time information, and data acquisition. It even has optional paddle shifters. If you’re looking for an advanced tiller that will help you to drive faster and shave time off your laps, the handcrafted carbon fiber and leather AIM GT Steering Wheel may be just the thing.

Put more controls and information right at your fingertips. It’s not as complex as a Formula 1 wheel (and that’s probably a good thing), but you can customize the buttons to control functions such as traction control, pit limiter, the radio, and more. Keep your hands where they need to be while you’re driving—on the wheel.

The AIM GT Wheel includes an array of ten color LED shift lights along the top, so you can really wring out your engine before each shift without bouncing of the limiter (or damaging your engine). You program your own RPM threshold, color, and blinking frequency, and which situation will activate or deactivate the alarm lights.

The central, backlit display can show you the readouts on your dash, such as tachometer, speedometer, oil pressure, engine temperature, etc. It can also show rolling, static, and predictive lap times, with the help of your car’s ECU, plus a built-in GPS and accelerometer. Choose a custom page with up to four fields showing you all the information you want, right on your wheel. At the end of your run, you can pull up a data summary, to show your best laps and speeds, total distance and time, and help you figure out where you went wrong and what you did right.

The AIM GT Steering Wheel comes in two sizes, measured horizontally: 320 and 350 millimeters. It can be ordered with SPA or OMP hubs for easy installation.

Order the AIM GT 320 or GT 350 steering wheel now (or just learn more about it), with shipping expected later this month.
