eBay Auction of the Day: 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8

challenger_csamp_header.jpg

This eBay auction is to get your hands on the #43 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8. The Challenger will be one-of-a-kind as the only production model painted in the legendary B5 Blue (hacienda blue?). The car features black hood stripes, a 6.1-liter SRT Hemi V-8, and a five-speed AutoStick transmission.

The bidding will start at $25,000 and run from February 12-22. All proceeds from the auction will go to Kyle Petty’s Victory Junction Gang charity – an organization dedicated to helping children with chronic illnesses.

Along with the cool blue car, the winning bidder will receive two VIP passes to the Dodge Challenger 500 (including airfare and lodging), a meet-and-greet with Kyle Petty, and a Dodge Motorsports prize pack.

That color is simply miserable. This car should not be sold in this color, and hopefully it is indeed a one off color. I don't care if it's "legendary." It's hideous. Some things were meant to stay in the past. Still, it's great that it's being sold for charity.

I agree. But there's always a sucker with bad taste and money. Look at Britney.

They should've matched the colour of the Challenger with the colour of the text on the ad.

That's a great Charity saw a report on it a couple of months ago.

The color doesn't look that bad to me.

if they were going for the Petty Enterprises look, they should've made the hood stripes STP Orange, not that stupid faux-carbon fiber...

So the got out the old blue prints and remade the same car. WTF?! I loved it then but who cares now?

Clint

Smurf Blue isn't too common these days, but it's already such a retro car that a one-off in this color is pretty neat. The blue would look better on a 2008 Plymouth Superbird, but that's just my personal preference. Now we'll have to wait patiently for 2010, when they reintroduce Plum Crazy to draw more interest to the Challenger.
