eBay Auction of the Day: 1986 Renault 5 Turbo 2
Call us sentimental for the eighties, but who could say no to a face like the one on this little French, ah, beauty. OK, so maybe the Renault 5 Turbo 2 isn’t the most sensuous sports car ever created, but its still one that we’d gladly call our own.
Despite the brick-like styling of the Renault hatch, the 5 Turbo is basically a turbocharged rally car for the street. This mid-engine screamer was built for nothing less than domination on twisty roads, for fearless drivers who loved nothing more than the gravely edge of doom.

This 1986 example seems to have been tuned for greater performance, adding an Alpine intercooler, cross-drilled brake rotors, even a Halon fire system should things get way out of control.
Even drivers who don’t crave doom might crave a drive in this Renault, but the asking price doesn’t look to favor the casual driver. The $21,000-plus price tag may indeed be warranted by the history and rarity of the car, but it’s still a lot to swallow for anyone who’s less than a die hard fan.

Looks like the original lag city turbo. I would swap that out first. $21k is a bit steep though. It must pass smog because it's registered in CA.

No lag if you keep the revs up. I love the looks, I wonder if those brake cooling vents work or not.

Looks like the bastard child of a 911 and a Le Car.

That is the ugliest car I have seen come out of France. I know the French have a different view on beauty from the rest of the world, but this is just hideous.

Such a car is lethal.... but great fun. They should require a competition license for the buyer. (Knows somebody who has one in the south of France)
