David Richards: Prodrive Not Pursuing Formula One Entry

David Richards

With nearly five entries into Le Mans Series racing, Aston Martin has it's hands full - and perhaps so to does owner David Richards and Prodrive, his racing consortium. Perhaps it's just as well that Prodrive's announced it won't be seeking a Formula One entry.

According to Autocar, Prodrive (and Aston) boss David Richards says that the new Concorde Agreement - a provision mandating all teams to have constructor support - makes entering the sport "too impractical to be competitive." Although Torro Rosso and Super Aguri have been granted exceptions to the rule, Richards doesn't hold much hope for Prodrive's futures in F1.

Instead, Prodrive will dedicate it's attention to the World Rally Championship it has with Subaru. If he wasn't busy enough, Autocar also mentions Richards hopes to take a leading role of the WRC team in addition to his responsibilities at Prodrive and Aston Martin.
