Roadside Attraction: Truckvertising

truckvertising-hl.jpg

For better or worse, advertising gets more and more sophisticated as time wears on. While many newer trends in the business (spam, direct mail, or product placement for instance) we could mostly do without, there are a few of which, it could be argued, make the world slightly more beautiful or at least more interesting.

Case in point, these radically realistic ads found on the sides and backs of tractor-trailers. While in years past these spaces were taken up by nothing more than corporate logos, or the occasional airbrushing, more and more we see very conceptual and cool imagery.

In these few examples, we see truckvertisements for such products as Fed Ex and German soda, which are likely to have motorists reaching for cell phone cameras, instead of changing the radio station. Enjoy.

those three german trucks sure look like photoshops to me. actual ads or someone just having fun?

Mark

Yeah. The last two especially look like Photoshops. Someone's having fun at Winding Road's expense.

diablojota

Those are photoshopped. I've seen them before. Look at the trucks, three of the images, the trucks have the same wheel arrangement, and lie on the exact same place on the street, only the background and image on the truck have been modified.

I can also confirm they are indeed photoshops. They have been around for quite a while. Still, good ideas, though.

Scratch

Especially since they are only effective if you are looking at the truck at exactly the right angle.

Before I retired from working as a transport refrigeration mechanic, we had 1 customer who'se trailer advertised a Las Vegas strip club. Putting a bill board on the side and back doors of a commercial truck that is delivering goods makes a lot more sense to me than the practice I see here in So Cal of putting a big bill board on the flat bed of a truck and driving it aimlessly around the Los Angeles area just burning fuel and adding to the congestion.

They ARE photoshops. There are real trucks that are similar, but look at the trucks/background...it's the same in ALL of the pictures...
