McQueen’s Indian Scout to be Auctioned at Legend of the Motorcycle
The town of Half Moon Bay, California will play host to some of the world’s most beautiful and historically important motorcycles this May, when the well-regarded Legend of the Motorcycle Concours and auction arrive.
Taking place just south of San Francisco on May 3rd, the Legend show will offer an auction by Bonhams & Butterfields, which is bringing 20 cycles from the personal collection of motorcycle seat maker Michael Corbin. The focus of the collection will be the storied Indian marque, and the unquestioned star of the show is sure to be the 1940 Indian Scout of the late great Steve McQueen (pictured).
Bringing additional star-power to the auction is the late Evel Knievel’s 2004 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail. Knievel’s bike is finished in a classic red, white, and blue livery, and is sure to moisten the eyes of at least a few of the biker faithful in attendance.
