Is Chevy's New Cobalt...Attractive?
Seyth Miersma
When I first saw these images of what is likely to be the next Chevy Cobalt , I was puzzled to find them pretty good looking. It's a given that Chevy has more than a few issues to address when it comes to build quality and interior fit and finish, but at first blush do you find the form of the new car to be an appealing one?

Seems nice enough. I wonder about rear headroom with that roofline. And is it just me, or do the wheel wells seem puny?

To me it looks like the wheel wells are probably a respectable size, but the car looks laden-down or at least like it's riding at a lower than normal ride height. The smallish wheels exacerbate the problem, but yes, it definitely looks under-tired.
The shrunken Malibu front-end looks good, and the rear end is pretty distinctive thanks to those taillights (I wouldn't go so far as to call it attractive), but the greenhouse looks a bit Saturn Ion-ish to me, an association I'd prefer not to recall.

I like it! GM's taking car design seriously, now- this looks on par with the asian cars. A look at the CTS & Malibu interiors show that they can compete in this area as well. The current gen cobalt has decent mechanicals- but falls behind the asian cars in terms of interior design/ quality. The upcoming cobalt has the potential to be more than an also- ran.
Can't wait to see the next cobalt ss!!

It looks like every other econobox. (But I do like the paintjob). Hyundai, Camry, Honda, Nissan, even the new BMW 3 series! Can you tell the difference from 50 yards? I sure as heck can't.
G.M. should lead the pack instead of following. The new Camero is a good start though.

Huge improvement over the present frumy lumpen boxen Cobalt sedan. New sedan trumps present Coupe for that matter.

I'd say that the new Cobalt (sorry, Cruze) looks better than the current model. It's a bit more grown-up, especially with Malibu cues on the front end.
