Target Purchases Over 150 Segways for Store Security
Security guards at your local Target department store could be getting a bit more efficient in the near future, as well as a lot goofier looking.
Segway, makers of the self-stabilizing personal mobility devices, announced today that retail giant Target has purchased more than 150 Segway PTs for use in its stores. The PTs will be utilized by Target’s asset protection departments to patrol parking lots and other areas adjacent to the retail spaces. The retailer has also developed a training program specifically aimed at future Segway using employees.
Target is said to have been sold on the two-wheeled scooter for its ability to grant security personnel greater range of view from an elevated position, as well as the device’s ability to maneuver in confined spaces. Shoplifters of the world, beware.

So many jokes, so little room

As if being a rent a cop wasn't bad enough, now you can do so in complete humiliation by riding this thing around.
Hey WR - this should've been the "caption it" picture for the day.

I see no reason for it not to be. Good looking out The Stig.

Not surprising that Target is doing this. Little-known fact: Target owns two criminal forensics labs. Originally used for store security/fraud/etc, they're now also used by local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.

Somehow, I think a person on foot can maneuver better in confined spaces...and can jump fences to boot.
