WRC: Loeb Takes Record Fifth Victory at Monte Carlo Rally
The opening event of the 2008 World Rally Championship season has come to a record-setting conclusion this afternoon, with Citroen driver Sebastian Loeb clinching a fifth career win of the Monte Carlo Rally.
Loeb built a massive lead from almost the very beginning of the rally, running first from the second stage on Thursday evening. The Frenchman ended his final stage with a massive lead of 2 minutes and 34 seconds over second-place Mikko Hirvonen of Ford.
Understandably pleased with the result, Loeb called the win a “big, big victory.

Thank you for the report.
News coverage on the WRC is sadly quite minimal in the US.
I was pleased to see Atkinson get third and Hirvonen second. Both drivers have great potential. Now will their vehicles be as good as Loeb's Citroen? They weren't last season.
