Tokyo Motor Show: BMW 1-Series Concept tii
We’d love to know why BMW decided to put the tii way in the back of its stand and make it nearly impossible to photograph. Anyway, these are the best images we could pull off from the BMW stand.

Maybe there isn't a lot of faith in it for the Japanese market?

"Faith" has to be a big part of this. I'm sure the guys in the marketing departments around the globe are going to wear themselves out trying to convince the higher-ups that in order to be viable a modern BMW product simply MUST have 300+ horsepower and active steering and multiple driving "modes" and enhanced iDrive and massaging seats and Bluetooth and a real-time stock ticker and....
Someone with some sway is going to have to have faith that there is a reasonable part of the market that simply wants a small, quick, direct, simple car (preferably with rear-wheel-drive). The world needs more cult cars, more 2002s and E30 M3s, and fewer focus-group exercises in silly excess.
