Nissan Intima Concept Wants to Welcome Passengers

intima_01.jpg

Here’s a pretty sweet concept from Nissan, the Intima’s passenger seat swings out to allow easier entry for the person riding shotgun. The seat also looks pretty comfortable and there’s no B-pillar to complicate entry.

The Intima is designed for people who like beauty, know comfort and elegance when they see it, and travel alone or with a companion. This concept isn’t quite as wild as the built-for-an-oceanographer NV200, but we’re hoping that means it could end up as a production car.

Intima

A New-generation Saloon for People with a Sophisticated, Discerning Eye for Beauty - Who Enjoy Spending Time in Refined Elegance and Comfort, Whether Traveling Alone or with a Partner

* Intima takes Nissan's Modern Living Concept into a new dimension with an interior that invites passengers into an extraordinary world of artistic forms, materials and illumination.
* The front passenger's seat swivels approx. 80° to the outside, as if to welcome and escort a passenger into the car.
* Exterior styling that matches the interior's artistic image, with a design that combines sharp-edged lines and organic panel surfaces. Rich elegance is conveyed though Intima's arching side character line, while the crystal-like appearance of the front and rear lamps, grille and wheels project an image of superior quality and refinement reminiscent of jewelry.

it is not to far from Altima, but current Altima is a sweet car. Well it looks like Nissan got some good design help from Renault.

Mena

Very nice looking car. It actually looks ready for the road. Hmmmm.

The next Infiniti M?

No next teana.

Didn't Chrysler have swivel seats back in the 1950's?

suicide doors?

there is a great potential for this concept. It can lead to the next M as Ducati Minor proposed, or it can be the next maxima (teana in the japan). This basically will depend on the platform that is gonna carry this design. especially that there aren't any info about the powertrain and chassis of this concept.

Wes

Looks pretty sweet. But also looks like it would get pretty hot in the interior with that all-glass roof.

The Nissan Intima: intensifying the battle for Shotgun.

However, it does look very nice, and it's good to see something going to Tokyo which may actually see production...can't say that for most of the concepts on WR today and yesterday.

mo

yeah, it happens almost every year on tokyo auto show that we see concepts that are more like toy cars than real cars. i don't even bother looking at them because none of them will see the light.

Adam W.

Nice... now when can I order that in Diesel?

Winding Road » Archive » Tokyo Motor Show: Nissan Intima Con

[...] Our first reaction to the Nissan Intima was shock at its size. The photos we saw earlier this month didn’t relay the actual size of this sedan. It comes in about the size of a Mercedes S-class, not the size of an Altima like we imagined. [...]
