A-Star is Born: Suzuki Will Debut A-Segment Concept in India
Suzuki has got global aspirations these days, fresh off the news that the company will be building a new pickup for North America (well, having it built), there comes word that there will be a new global A-segment model.
(Click on the thumbnails below to launch a gallery of A-Star images or through the jump to read on about the concept.)
Premiering this January at the Auto Expo in New Delhi, Suzuki’s aptly named Concept A-Star, will foreshadow a production model in the small car segment. The A-Star will highlight some design themes and packaging for the new model, including the five-door hatch configuration, and a 1.0-liter Euro 5-compliant engine.
Suzuki’s choice of New Delhi to show the A-Star is two-fold. First, it helps to emphasize the global ambitions that the company holds, as well as reinforcing the importance of the Indian market (in which Suzuki has a large share of the passenger car market) to those ambitions. Second, the A-Star represents the first ever concept car designed by Maruti Suzuki Indiafs, the corporation’s Indian research and development division.
If the A-Star is an indication of the work that Maruti Suzuki does, than we're well in favor of its continued creative input for Suzuki. Then again, the company is on kind of a roll with cool concepts, stay tuned.

Looks very good. I kinda like the Fit, but it looks awkward from a few angles. This Suzi looks good from every angle, with the possible exception of some funny looking lights. I think this would bring more people to small cars (in the US) and more people to Suzuki

When will it be available in the US? My guess is never since the only A-segment car to be sold in the US is the Smart ForTwo.
The A-Star is smaller than a Fit, since the Fit is a B-segment car.

1. Will it come to the U.S.?
2. Any word on price?
3. Will one of their high output sportbike engines fit in it? :D

Love the headlights! Looks like the robots from "Batteries Not Included" had a big brother that's all mad for some reason. :)
