‘08 NAIAS: When You Just Can’t Get to Soccer Practice Fast Enough…

Now here’s something we’d like to see. When we originally showed the #86 Honda Odyssey from last year’s One Lap of America event, we had a very positive reaction from readers. A Dodge Grand Caravan R/T would be an extremely usable performance-oriented vehicle, and we like the idea of kicking around the term “sports van.

They could used current 4cyl SRT or former V6 SRT engines from Crossfires making these real people movers.

I think that this is very bad news for our highways. An R/T sticker is one more excuse for minivans to plunk themselves in front of us in the left lane.

I think this trend of "sports vans" as you call them is an excuse for people to drive large boxes around like their sports car. Check out what Nissan is doing with the Forum Concept.

Well I like the idea for several reasons. One it just seems a natural to "butch" up minivans, which seem to have an, ahem, feminine air about them what with all the so called soccer moms, two, they are more fuel efficent than SUV's but could still have that kind of "sport" appeal that apparently sells. I once rented a Grand Caravan and all I could do while at the wheel was think if,if and if it only had better wheels, tires, springs, sway bars and a blower, it would be really a neat deal.....

As someone with 4 kids and an interest in competent people haulers, this interests me a lot. Considering it is a Chrysler minivan, I actually like the look.

I'm sorry, but I don't think the AWD system was used Steven. :P

WOW!!! throw the 6.1 liter hemi in it then it can battle the r-class R63.

Get rid of the hood scoop (if it's a real one I'll let you off easy) and I'll buy one.

The Stig

Are you kidding me? This is the LAST thing the world needs.

I think the Dodge Caravan in its base form is already not-too-good-looking. But you add a hood scoop and all these other bits, and it just becomes gaudy AND homely. I think that this R/T minivan is a poor compromise between utility and performance, and an unnecessary one.
