Audi A5 TDI Takes Top Honors at Michelin Challenge Bibendum
Every year, French tire stalwart Michelin holds the Challenge Bibendum to promote and showcase sustainable automotive concepts. This year’s event, held in Shanghai, saw Audi’s entry, the A5 3.0-liter TDI, take top honors in the prototype category.
Even though the A5 TDI fit the technical constraints needed to compete in the prototype category, the ultra-low emission diesel engine powering it is virtually ready for production. Get ready to see the new 3.0-liter TDI, which is approved for 50-state use in the U.S., to go on sale in Audi’s A4 and Q7 for 2008.
In all, Audi walked away with nine awards at Challenge Bibendum, in which judges measure fuel consumption, emissions, safety, and handling characteristics.
