The refreshed version of Hyundai’s bread and butter sedan, the 2009 Sonata, was unwrapped today to the delight of show-goers here in Chicago.

The redesigned Sonata can boast an all new, and quite refined interior, along with revised powertrain options that are both more powerful and fuel-efficient for the 2009 model year.

I would think about buying a Hyundai, but every single one that I sat in, including the SUVs had abysmal front leg room. I am admittedly taller than average, but I fit quite well in the passenger seat of my buddy's mini cooper. All they have to do is tack three or four more inches onto the back of the seat rails.

It can boast an all new interior or it DOES boast an all new interior?

"The refreshed version of Hyundai’s bread and butter sedan, the 2009 Sonata, was unwrapped today to the delight of show-goers here in Chicago."

What, does Chicago have a very high proportion of retired folks? This car was profoundly dull when it was first released, and it's not getting any better.

a 'Profoundly dull' mid-sizer that sold 300,000 in two years. Not bad.
And as far as 'abysmal legroom' in Hyundai's all of their sedans either lead or are at the top of their class in interior room. The Sonata is even larger than the new Accord and is rated as a large car. Haters.

Have to love these cars, lots of standard options for great prices and warranty and now they have interiors that are becoming amazing

That interior is very upscale. Hyundai is doing great with their current improvements. A better product that is priced very competitively will naturally lead to better sales. It's only a matter of time until people realize that the Hyundai badge is no longer representative of an economy car.

Hyundai is doing a good job, in my opinion. When some dolt drove up the side of my car this past summer, I had to spend a week in a Sonata. Although I wouldn't have been independently impressed with the sedan, I have to say, it was MUCH better than I expected.

Now if they would only redesign that ghastly logo, they would really be making progress.

hey i just told my mom to get the 2008 sonata, why do they have to change it next year. good thing it is only the interior, this way my mom won't notice.

The '06 I drove for a weekend was pretty darn nice, and had a lot of power, too. I don't see anything negative about the redesign. It's still better-looking than the Accord, and unlike a previous poster, I felt that legroom was good enough for my 6'4" frame.

Oollyoumn

No my type of car, but I must commend Hyundai for still offering a manual transmission. That would be the only way I could be talked into one. I have not seen any pricing on the 09, but the previous version was a very good value (content&size/price).

Frankly, for a family-sized sedan it's a pretty nice car. I really like it, and would love to see the Limited in the new Cocoa with the same interior. They are doing a really good job with this, and while the Malibu is one of my favorites, I do have a problem with the thick "A" and "C: columns, and will definitely test the two versions of the Limited to see if it's got the goods. My suspicion is that it does. Can't wait for the NY Auto show in a couple of weeks to take a look at this baby.
