Japan Report: Chrysler Launches Charger R/T

Dodge continues to make bold moves into Japan with the simultaneous launch of the Charger R/T muscle car and improved version of the SRT8.

The 5.7-liter R/T is being pitched as the more affordable SRT8 – some $4500 cheaper, at a shade under $54,000. Power for Japan is 355 horsepower.

Alongside, the SRT8 gets relaunched with improved interior and added safety equipment. On the market in Tokyo for the equivalent of $58,650 or thereabouts.

American cars can often be a tough sell in Japan. Certain icons, like Corvettes and Mustangs and Astro vans, have a strong cult following, however, and while the Charger is less well known, looking ahead, the coming Camaro and Challenger will definitely go Big in Japan. Bring ‘em on.
