Blue Devil or ZR1: The Debate Begins Anew?
Never a man to let an off-hand comment by a PR rep not turn into an internet rumor, Ray Wert (pictured) has posted some interesting information over in the cyber-halls of Jalopnik.
Wert is claiming that one of The General’s PR minions let the news slide that the company might not be set on the ZR1 nameplate for its upcoming super ‘Vette, saying “if they ever end up sticking to one name.

They should name it the "Duntov" as Corvette's top performance car just as Ferrari did with the "Enzo".
They should not recycle the ZR1 badge.

Man, Wert's an ugly git, isn't he?

Yeah, worst photo ever. Oh, wait -- it's of me. Shoot...

My problem with Blue Devil is that (to me) it doesn't make sense if the car ain't blue. And someone somewhere will gripe about the name "devil" associated with the car (hey, it's got a cross on it, you know). I'd almost prefer Z07 because it's one more..."this one goes to 11", that sort of thing.

Haha.
I hope it's called anything but the Blue Devil... Can't stand Duke... bah. I did like ZR1, though... Certainly better than Duntov or SS or Stingray or ...

"They should not recycle the ZR1 badge."
I agree. But don't call it "Blue Devil" or "Duntov."

ZR3 would have been better if the last ZR1 was named ZR2. Z07 would make sense and keep things simple. The target market is not going to confuse this car with the Z06 anyways.

I think they should bring back "stingray". ZR1, while I like, is too new of a name. They should save that for a few year down the road and use something older right now.

"Blue Devil" has to be the coolest name for the upcoming uber Vette. I hope they change it back.

Who cares what it'll be called... if I bought one I'd just de-badge it anyways.

I think they should honor Duntov, perhaps call it Zora. Zr1 has always been associated with the Vettes assault on Le Mans and gt racing, I think they should keep that name reserved for their racing Vettes, and I don't see a big inch supercharged Vette being allowed to race anywhere in Europe.

Ray Wert looks scrary. A tinge of psychotic-postal-employee in that picture.
